Meet Dr. Gregory R. Urfrig,DMD

Dr. Urfrig was raised in Los Angeles, CA, but received his education on the East Coast.  Through an accelerated 7-year program,  he received both his BA in Biology (’99) and his DMD (’02) at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.  He served as class president during his four years of dental school.  He then went to New York, NY for his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training.  He completed his intern year at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens and completed his residency at Kings County Hospital Center/SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn in 2006.  He went on to a one year advanced fellowship in Maxillofacial Surgery at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles, CA.

Dr. Gregory Urfrig’s training provided extensive experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dental implants, bone grafting, IV anesthesia, corrective jaw surgery, facial trauma, pathology and dental extractions.  Dr. Urfrig is a Board Certified Surgeon by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS).  He is also a fellow of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS)

Dr. Urfrig’s special interest in Anesthesia led him to take the board examination in Dental Anesthesia, and is now a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology (NDBA) and is a fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthsiology (ADSA).

Due to his interest in education and training, Dr. Urfrig is an attending surgeon at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he teaches and operates with residents from two training programs.  He is also a lecturer with the UCLA School of Dentistry. 

Dr. Urfrig is licensed in California and Arizona.  He holds a General Anesthia Permit in California.  He maintains current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)  and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.

Dr. Urfrig enjoys spending his free time with his wife Heather, son Andrew, and daughter Blaire.  He is an Eagle Scout.  He enjoys Scuba Diving, water and snow skiing, going to Disneyland, and loves watching the Dodgers  almost as much as the LA Kings.
